The story behind the edit

Horny Rhino Heritage

A small, precise edit of vintage and heritage pieces: leather goods, archival accessories, and handmade objects. Founded by Sayda Sanchez, the collection is built around character: each piece chosen for its material quality, provenance, and the kind of restraint that stays relevant for decades.

The sourcing is first-hand. Pieces come from specialist dealers, estate collections, and private markets across Spain, the Czech Republic, Mexico, and the United States, each one handled, examined, and selected in person. Nothing enters the collection through a catalogue or third-party reseller.

Shape, material, and attitude come first. Provenance matters, but only in service of the piece itself. A 1940s beaded bag from Prague earns its place because of what it is, not simply because of how old it is. New drops are kept deliberately lean so the collection stays readable, collectible, and easy to browse.

How we source

Sourced in person

Every piece we sell has been handled and examined before purchase. We source directly from specialist dealers, estate collections, and private markets across Spain, the Czech Republic, Mexico, and the United States. Not from catalogues or third-party resellers.

Photographed in-house

Every product image on this site is our own. What you see is the exact piece available, shot in consistent natural light so condition, texture, and scale are clearly visible before you commit.

Documented before listing

Country of origin, approximate year, materials, and condition are recorded for every item. The product pages reflect everything we know about each piece. Nothing is omitted or softened.

Condition guide

Every piece on Horny Rhino Heritage carries one of three condition labels. Here is exactly what each one means.

VintagePre-owned
Pre-owned pieces selected for their character, patina, and remaining integrity. Any notable wear or marks are visible in the product photography and noted in the listing. We do not list vintage pieces we would not buy ourselves.
DeathstockNever sold
Original old stock that was never sold or used. These pieces spent decades in original retail or warehouse inventory, unworn but age-appropriate. Minor storage marks or original-packaging patina may be present. The piece itself is unused.
New / AtelierHandmade today
Pieces made through HR Atelier, our own production arm. Each is handcrafted using traditional materials and methods. New condition applies to both the piece and its provenance: no history, no prior use, made for this collection.

Frequently asked questions

Do you accept returns or offer refunds?
All sales are final. Every piece is one-of-a-kind (vintage, deathstock, or handmade) and each listing includes detailed photography and condition notes so you can make a confident decision. We encourage you to reach out with any questions before purchasing.
Where do you ship?
We currently ship within California only. Orders are dispatched within 1–2 business days and arrive in 2–3 business days via insured, tracked shipping.
How do I know the condition is accurately described?
Every piece is photographed in consistent natural light to show condition clearly. We note any significant wear, marks, or patina in the listing description. If something is not mentioned, it is not present. If you want more detail, contact us and we will send additional photos.
What does 'deathstock' mean?
Deathstock (also called deadstock) refers to original retail stock that was never sold or used. These pieces may have spent decades in warehouse or original store inventory. The item is unworn but may show minor age-related storage marks or original packaging patina.
Can I request sourcing for a specific piece?
Yes. We accept private sourcing requests for vintage leather goods, archival accessories, and heritage clothing. Use the contact form to describe what you are looking for and we will let you know if it is something we can source.
How do I care for vintage leather?
Condition vintage leather with a pH-neutral leather conditioner every few months. Store away from direct sunlight and heat. For bags, stuff with tissue paper when not in use to maintain shape. Avoid moisture. If the piece gets wet, let it dry at room temperature away from any heat source.
